Cornwall is filled with small joints to grab excellent coffee twinned with excellent grub. From north to south, east to west there are quirky boltholes to while away the day with a good book or good company. Here are the best places to get a cup o’ Joe in Cornwall.

1. Esspressini

Cafe, Tea

This artisan coffee shop in Falmouth prides itself on serving the best coffee possible twinned with outstanding food. The guys here have spent an amazing amount of time travelling and tasting coffee beans from all over the world, meaning that the coffee coming out of here is served with a whole load of love and knowledge. Brunch is served through to mid afternoon, while coffee is served all day.

2. Rest a While Tea Garden

Tea Room, Tea

Rest a While is one of those places where you’ll find yourself and then you’ll never want to leave. The garden offers gorgeous views out across the Camel Estuary and the seating, which is on picnic benches, is surrounded by a hotchpotch of colourful plant pots. The coffee, tea, cakes and lunch are all excellent.

3. Cherry Trees Coffee House

Cafe, Tea Room, Tea , Coffee

This retro glass front coffee house in Padstow is so much more than meets the eye. Good coffee it may serve, but Cherry Tree’s USP are the delicious roulades and sumptuous chocolate cake, lobster tart and seafood chowder. The padded benches inside get filled up pretty quick, but there’s an express kiosk for takeout coffee, cakes and pasties so you don’t miss out!

4. The Apple Tree

Cafe, Tea

All the way down near Sennen at what feels like the end of the world is a quiet oasis where you can shelter from the Cornish weather and warm your hands around a warm mug of coffee. The Apple Tree is open year-round and serves up hearty breakfast, sweet cakes and cream teas to boot.

5. Baker Tom’s

Bakery, British

The original Baker Tom’s is in a rather unassuming hideaway on an industrial estate in the old mining town of Pool. Here, Tom and his team bake up a storm of goodies, from fresh pasties, to delicious bread and his famous brownies. Sitting down for a coffee here is relaxed, bright and surrounded by the mouth watering smell of freshly baked bread. There are other stores in both Falmouth and Penzance.

6. Jam Records

Cafe, Tea

Jam is a humble place to sit down for a coffee. Surrounded by records and with an array of comfy sofas to fall into, walking into Jam is like walking into your mum’s – it feels like home. The coffee served here tastes deep and smooth and there are almost always yummy biscuits on offer to go with it.

7. The Sorting Office

Cafe, Tea

As you would imagine, The Sorting Office was once just that, the village of St Agnes’ sorting office. Now it’s a stylish and cosy coffee house which serves up artisanal coffee and really tasty cakes. With white subway tiles lining the walls and a thick smell of fresh coffee in the air, it’s almost impossible to walk past without popping in for a pit stop.

8. 108 Coffee House

Cafe, Tea

108 Coffee House has a rotating range of coffees which come from sustainable sources from all over the world. Right in the heart of the city of Truro, 108 serves homemade cakes to go with their rather good coffee, set in a minimalistic, friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
