The Best Bars in Tbilisi
Georgians love to eat, drink and have fun with their friends, even on weekdays when they have to wake up the next morning to go to work. Therefore, Tbilisi has a diverse scene of cafés, restaurants and, of course, bars.
A typical Friday night for many people means spending hours at a small, cozy bar chatting with friends or someone at the next table. So if you are new in town and don’t know where to go, here’s a list of the best bars in which locals love to relax while sipping their favorite drink.
1. Bauhaus
Bar, Fast Food, Georgian
Located in Dedaena Park, this open-space bar is the best place to escape the summer heat in the evenings. The budget-friendly bar serves local draft and bottled beer, a local spirit called chacha, and cocktails, to name a few. Moreover, if you get hungry, they serve sandwiches, soups, and cheese sticks. But they don’t have a food menu; every waiter is happy to list what they offer. Occasionally, they organize various events such as a movie screening, live music, or barbeque days.
2. Black Dog Bar
Bar, American, Pub Grub, Georgian
3. Warszawa
Bar, Fast Food, Pub Grub
The bar itself is tiny but has tables and chairs on the ground floor. However, most people prefer to stand either in the bar or outside to socialize.
4. Chacha Room
Bar, Georgian, Pub Grub
The recently opened Chacha Room dedicates itself to the local spirit chacha—a strong and clear drink whose alcoholic percentage ranges between 40% to 65% and is made from grape pomace. The bar offers a variety of chacha, including mango, cranberry, cornelian cherry, blackberry, lime, raspberry, and pomegranate. Additionally, they have homemade vegetable marinades, seasonal compote drinks, chacha cocktails, and various food options.
5. Rooms Hotel Bar
Restaurant, Hotel Restaurant, Bar, European
For a fancier evening, head towards the bar at Rooms Hotel Tbilisi. They have both indoor and outdoor seating possibilities, along with a variety of food and drinks. The venue is distinguished by its design, relaxed vibe and friendly atmosphere.
6. Lolita
Bar, European, Georgian, Vegetarian, Pub Grub
Across from the Rooms Hotel Tbilisi, there’s another fancy yet trendy bar called Lolita. The ground floor of a pseudo-Gothic house features an open-air bar, kitchen, and outdoor seating. However, there are indoor tables available too. The bar serves cocktails, local wine, homemade lemonade, feijoa chacha, and various meals.
7. Drunk Owl Bar
Bar, European, Georgian, Pub Grub
Located in Old Town, Drunk Owl Bar is a great place to start your evening on a budget and move to a club afterward. The vast variety of drinks and live music on Fridays and weekends create a lovely atmosphere and a great place to be.
