Iran is home to some of the most scenic and diverse natural landscapes in the world. If you want to keep your spending to a minimum and enjoy the great outdoors while visiting Iran then camping might save you a pretty penny. Here are some of the most scenic places to go camping in Iran.

Unlike in many European countries, there are no organised camp sites in Iran. You can simply head to any open green space, pitch your tent and camp out. But remember that there won’t be toilets, a telephone signal or any other amenities–just you and good old mother nature!

Nomad peoples in Iran tend to move from one place to another herding livestock, they are known in Iran as Kooch Neshinan. Many travel companies offer tours ranging from a few days to a full week, where you can live alongside the Kooch Neshinan and learn about their way of life.

Golestan Province is located in the north-east of Iran, south of the Caspian Sea. Located within Golestan is the Golestan National Park, the biggest natural park in Iran, covering 90 sq. acres. Home to many rare species of birds and animals, it is an essential camping destination. Be aware that wildfires caused by negligent campers have been an issue in recent times, which has led to the creation of designated camping areas for tourists.
