The District is abound with literary and political nerds — can you compete? Check out D.C.’s best bar trivia.

1. Looking Glass Lounge

Bar, Nightclub, Cocktails

Looking Glass Lounge

The dive bar’s weekly trivia theme changes each time; this means that you might pounce all over the competition, or totally fail if the theme is horse racing and your equestrian knowledge starts and ends at Seabiscuit. The questions could be more politically inclined, in which case you’ll probably still lose because this is D.C., and nearly everyone playing works for the government. Get ready to rumble at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays.

2. Tonic

Bar, Pub Grub

This college bar offers trivia every Monday at 8:30 p.m., and is hosted by a guy named Peanuts — likely not his real name, but it has never been revealed to trivia goers. The game is held on the bar’s third floor, which is dotted with cozy upholstered chairs and feels more like a penthouse lounge. Trivia specials include $3 Miller Lites, $4 tater tots and $6 nachos. http://instagram.com/p/BLAGbJThDDd/?taken-at=236673042

3. Public

Bar, Cocktails

Public utilizes a different trivia org, specific to D.C., known as District Trivia. Its website explains, ‘We thrive on creating organized chaos and our main goal is to entertain the crowd. We know that some people take trivia very seriously, we are not those people.’ Head in for a fun night, but remember it’s just a game — people tend to forget that when money off their tabs is at stake. Remember, if in doubt about an answer, this is a sports bar, so the answer is always Lebron James. Check it out on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. http://instagram.com/p/BKZXqa6gKOK/?taken-by=districttrivia

4. Nellie's

Bar, Beer

Considered one of the most difficult trivia nights in D.C., this gay sports bar packs plenty of laughs and personality into intellectual conundrums. Hosted by Josh Housdan and Andy Austin for the last seven years, the trivia game is dominated by groups of regular clientele that perhaps enjoy masochism — they all keep coming back after years of shame and crushing defeats. Trivia kicks off on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. http://instagram.com/p/BLfPpmWDwPU/?taken-at=230149
