Pucusana, a fishing village only a couple hours south of Lima, has some of the best and freshest seafood you’ll find anywhere in the country. The town is one of Lima’s main sources of fresh fish throughout the year. You’ll find freshly prepared ceviche, fried mariscos and grilled tuna, all of which can even be served to you beachside. If you’re looking for Peruvian food done right, here are some of the best restaurants Pucusana has to offer.

While this may have competition for the title of Pucusana‘s best restaurant, you can’t argue with the fact that its view is unrivaled. Eat your fresh fish with a view overlooking looking the harbor, and make sure to go to in time for the sunset. The more formal attire of the clientele is a change of pace from the other restaurants in Pucusana, where anything goes. If you want unrivaled atmosphere with great service and an upscale vibe, this is your place.

2. Beach food

They have all the classics, like jalea and ceviche, but it’s served to you on the beach, and there are even tables. So if you don’t want to leave the beach, you don’t have to. Among the crowded field of boardwalk restaurants, this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. You’ll get better service here and the facilities are cleaner. They serve up all the classics and have an outdoor patio where you can eat while enjoying great views of the chaotic boardwalk and pier, and the fishermen hauling in the day’s catch.

5. Restaurante El Marisco

El Marisco is another standout among the crowded beachfront options at Pucusana. Their grilled octopus is a must-try, and their jalea (a Peruvian fried-fish dish) is as good as any you’ll find in the town. You won’t miss out on a thing when you sit down at this beachfront restaurant, and the prices are as good as any that you’ll find here.

6. Restaurant El Sol

Tucked away in a quiet corner of the town, away from the crowds on the boardwalk, you’ll find El Sol. The restaurant is a great place for groups because of its spaciousness and quieter atmosphere. Black clams (conchas negras) are their specialty, served still in their shells or turned into a ceviche. The owner, a retired fisherman, makes sure the seafood is always fresh and, of course, local.
