Ljubljana offers an excellent selection of vegetarian and vegan-friendly restaurants. All over the city, visitors and locals can enjoy delicious plant-based meals of every kind. Anything from a healthy breakfast and quick and fresh take-out, to a delicious sit-down dinner, vegetarian or vegan meals can be found in selected Ljubljana restaurants.

1. Ajdovo Zrno

Ajdovo Zrno is a self-serve vegan restaurant located in the heart of Ljubljana. The restaurant serves dishes that do not contain meat, white flour, white sugar, artificial colors or artificial flavors. This restaurant prepares daily vegan lunches, a large salad bar, and has a great location. Tasty food, a welcoming inside, and outside seating are just a few reasons why Ajdovo Zrno is a great place for a healthy lunch.

Under the arcades by the Central Market in Ljubljana, Barbarella Arkade Bistro welcomes its hungry patrons. The Bistro offers freshly squeezed juices, and vegetarian and vegan dishes such as soups, salads, sandwiches, vegan burgers, and rice bowls. Barbarella Arkade Bistro is also a haven for desserts. All of the restaurant’s freshly prepared mouthwatering cakes, pies, cookies, and poticas are made without meat or dairy products and do not contain any refined sugar.

After the great success of Zaživ Vegan Bistro’s first location in Bled, its owner decided to open a second location in Ljubljana. This friendly bistro offers delicious vegan wraps, pizzas, pies, cakes, and is especially known for tasty burgers. Inside Zaživ Vegan Bistro, there is a large reading area where guests can enjoy a cup of coffee or freshly squeezed juice and relax with a good book.

Located in Prešeren Square, Presnica is a favorite restaurant for healthy, delicious, and affordable takeaway lunches or snacks. Throughout the day, the restaurant offers fresh vegetarian soups, salads, and sandwiches to enjoy on the go. This restaurant’s spelt croissants, chia pudding, and raw cakes are well paired with Presnica’s healthy juices and smoothies.

5. Taman Organic

Taman Organic is a beautiful modern vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Ljubljana. With its modern ambiance and sophisticated décor, the restaurant offers a menu prepared almost exclusively from local organic food. Taman Organic’s à la carte menu offers delicious vegetarian dishes, which can, upon request, all be prepared as vegan. The restaurant also offers a daily menu that changes according to vegetables in season. Among the five presented options on Taman Organic’s daily menu, two are always offered for those who wish to eat gluten-free food.

6. Loving Hut

The Loving Hut is the fastest growing International vegan fast food chain. Each location of the restaurant, around the world, is individually owned and operated, which makes each Loving Hut’s menu unique. The chain opened their first location in Ljubljana in 2013. Since the restaurant’s opening, locals have embraced the Loving Hut’s delicious all-vegan food, non-alcoholic beverages, and vegan desserts. Due to its popularity, Loving Hut now also serves their 100% plant-based food in two other locations in the city.

7. Radha Govinda

Radha Govinda, one of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in Ljubljana, is run by a former Hare Krishnan monk. His lifelong dream of running a restaurant came true, and in 2008 Radha Govinda opened its doors to its first guest. Every day the restaurant’s daily menu offers different vegetarian, vegan, and Indian cuisine options. Radha Govinda is also proud of their house brand of vegetarian products like ghee, gopalada, and delicious pasta that guests can buy at the restaurant.

8. Organic Garden

Once Organic Garden started roaming the streets in their green food truck, they were an instant hit. Their distinctive red, yellow, and black (contains fish) burgers have won over many meat-lovers’ hearts. Recently, Organic Garden also opened a restaurant in Ljubljana’s city center. In Ciril-Metodov Square, Organic Garden continues the tradition of serving gluten-free soups, vegan croissants, salads, paninis, and delicious sweet treats like avocado pie.

9. Holyfood Delight

Holyfood is a vegetarian fast food restaurant especially popular among students in Ljubljana. Besides their vegetarian meal of the day, Holyfood’s pizzas, sandwiches, burek, and crêpes make great snacks before heading out for a fun night of adventures.

10. Abi Falafel
