When Ray Charles sang ‘Georgia on My Mind’, he was almost certainly talking about a memorable trip to Six Flags Over Georgia – while not confirmed, we rate it’s highly likely.

This epic theme park, opened in 1967, has 11 heart-stopping – not literally – roller coasters, plus its brand new Hurricane Harbour water park. Just one look at the loop-the-loops and you’ll be left feeling dizzy. After all that exertion, you’ll need somewhere to rest and recuperate and we’ve curated a great selection of hotels for you – all bookable on Culture Trip.

Here, European glamour meets Southern hospitality. Of course, you’ll love this place – it’s a Ritz Carlton, after all – but there is enough of a Georgia twist on this stone-cold classic to make it a unique experience, too. The stately and sumptuous rooms – where modern meets neo-classical – have feather beds, marble baths with rain showers, a 55” HD TV and even a complimentary overnight shoeshine. Downstairs, you’ll find two restaurants, a café and a gym to work it all off afterward.
