In Hong Kong, it’s easy to get caught between the extremes of extortionate cocktails in swanky bars, or 7/11 beer outside the Lan Kwai Fong clubs. But there’s an easy solution to this: happy hour. Check out these 10 great bars for drinks that are easy on the wallet.

Eye Bar

Overlooking the stunning Hong Kong Island skyline, this 30th floor offers a spectacular view of the daily light show. The happy hour deal gets you 30 percent off martini cocktails, 20 percent off wine and 50 percent off beer, which means a drink can be as little as HKD$35. Beware the hidden charges though; service will be added, as will the seemingly complementary nut bowl.

Ned Kelly’s Last Stand

This cozy Australian pub pulls in locals and expats alike with their delicious Australian food and live music. In addition, they also have one of the longest happy hours, running all day until 9pm. Prices start from HKD$48 during this time, which means an after-work drink or a glass of wine with your dinner is never more affordable. For anyone looking for a proper pub, this is the place to go.

Ori-Gin

This cute gin joint, located behind the noisy Lan Kwai Fong, is an oasis of calm. Classy but cool, this trendy bar serves delicious gin cocktails, and during happy hour, there is 30 percent off on their speciality gins. Try the rosemary and honey for something sweet and aromatic, or stick with the Earl Grey and cucumber for something more classic.

Channel

Channel is located on the busy Tung Choi Street, and is one of the perfect places to kick off a pub crawl or have a quiet drink with a friend. Their happy hour beers start at just HKD$26, and it’s the price that will catch your eye on a street full of bars. There are plenty of pubs and bars next door, so start here and work your way along.

Ozone Bar

Located on the 118th floor of the ICC building, the Ozone Bar is the highest in the world. The views from this Kowloon building are incredible, and the happy hour helps you enjoy the high life for a little less, with cocktails costing around HKD$90. It may be one of the more expensive deals, but a drink on their observation deck is a real treat you won’t forget quickly.
