The elegant interior is chic and spacious, and the staff are arguably some of the friendliest in the area. Monument offers a buffet of mixed specialities every lunchtime, the most popular of which is the delicious Sunday brunch option. The breakfast buffet is vast and includes eggs, ham, mushrooms, potatoes, quiche, croissants and crepes, all of great quality.

2. Le Blé Noir

A cozy and compact crêperie, Le Blé Noir offers fantastic brunch food, and is ideally situated only minutes from the Palace of Versailles. The buckwheat pancakes here are delicious and are prepared according to the traditional Breton recipe, and a particularly scrumptious option is the pear, blue cheese and proscuitto crêpe. The prices are reasonable, and there is a 40% discount available with an online reservation. The rooms here are bright and tastefully decorated, with impressive stone walls and modern decor. You’ll be hard pushed to find pancakes made from fresher products in Versailles.

A broad food and wine menu means there is something to cater for every taste here, and sweet lovers are implored to try the heavenly fish and brookie (brownie and cookie) dessert. A scrumptious and diverse range of French meat and cheese is available, and the vanilla bourbon panna cotta is a local favorite. The modern and minimal interior of the restaurant reflects well the creativity of the dishes, and the friendliness of the owners is just one more reason the brunch spot cannot be missed.
