With its rolling hillsides, pastures and lakeside coast, the Lake Constance region is truly a place to relax and go back to basics while reconnecting with nature. Very befittingly, it is also here where you’ll find some of the best thermal baths, where relaxing thoroughly with a view of the Alps is part of the package.

1. Meersburg Thermal Bath

An important town in the Lake Constance region, Meersburg is known for its historic medieval structures, especially the Old and New Castle. Take a break from sightseeing and head to the Meersburg Therme, which enjoys a fantastic location right by the lake with panoramic views of the water as well as the Alps. The thermal bath bubbles away at a temperature of 34°C and contains natural minerals that are purported to have healing effects. After taking a dip in the warm and relaxing pool, stretch out on one of the sun loungers on the huge sundeck or the panorama terrace and order something delicious to eat. In the summer, make use to the Meersburg Thermal Bath’s direct access to the lake or cool off in the lake during the cooler months after spending some time in the sauna or steam bath (or both). One of the features that make the Meersburg Therme really stand out is the Pfahlbausaunen (saunas fashioned after the UNESCO World Heritage Site pile dwellings).

2. Überlingen Thermal Bath

Spa, Health Spa

Located in Überlingen, one of Lake Constance’s most beautiful and sophisticated towns by the water with modern cafes, restaurants and boutiques, the Überlingen Thermal Bath is definitely reflective of this upscale vibe. You’ll find everything from a large thermal pool, a pool with massaging jet bubblers, a steam bath and even a 25-metre long sports pool. For visitors with kids, the thermal bath also has a family area with a waterslide. Of course, no thermal bath would be complete without sweating out toxins and there are a few different saunas with temperatures ranging between 80°C to 90°C. The panorama sauna also has a fantastic view of the lake and Alps and to cool off, you can always jump right into the lake. If you want to spoil yourself just a bit more, book an outdoor massage right by the lakefront.

3. Konstanz Thermal Bath

Another one of Lake Constance’s most important towns, Konstanz is known for its university as well as its beautiful cathedral. The Konstanz Thermal Bath is right by Lake Constance and has a 33°C pool with mineral-rich water as well as a large terrace overlooking the great view. The many saunas with different fragrance essences look out over the Alps while the 400 m² outside pool is so close to the lake that it seems to be its extension. The large waterslide is the perfect place for kids to splash around while the sports pool is available for some serious swimming. Of course, in the summer, direct access to Lake Constance is also quite the perk.
