Fashion fiends planning a trip to Santiago will be delighted to hear that Chile‘s capital is home to a number of independent stores in neighbourhoods such as Barrio Italia and beyond. Whether pop-ups, standalone, or well-instated, here’s our guide to the best fashion boutiques in town.

1. Karyn Coo

Store

Born in Temuco, Karyn studied fashion and decided to create her own brand. In 2011, she won Project Runway L.A. 2nd Season, and since then her brand has taken off, featuring on international catwalks such as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Mexico 2012, UNIMODA, Fashion Week Panama and BAAM – Buenos Aires. 2. Soy Tendencia

Soy Tendencia is the brainchild of fashion blogger Valentina Urzúa who travels the world searching for new trends, ideas, materials and inspiring designers. Gaining her popularity through Instagram, she also blogs all things fashion and shares her travel recommendations online here.

3. María Cienfuegos

Store

Maria Teresa Barrios’s fashion lines are classic and sophisticated, yet playful and unique. The designer has developed her style over the years after studying in both Buenos Aires and in Lyon. She then worked in New York at PIAMITA before returning to Chile to kick start her brand and work with Chilean magazines producing fashion editorials. She has both a showroom in Vitacura and a store in Santiago, as well an online store.

4. Alejandro Cordóva

This boutique is for the fashionable and contemporary woman looking for creations that are original in both colour and textiles. Boasting playful pattern and striking colour ways, this label is stocked in Providencia neighbourhood’s quirky Drugstore, home to many independent fashion boutiques – one not to miss.

5. Tienda Snog

This popular menswear boutique in Barrio Italia has many a hip brand amid its carefully curated collection. With boat shorts from Boat, leather bags from De La Mafia, quirky Libre shirts and much more, the store also sells shoes, accessories and an assortment of vinyls. You can also purchase goods online.

6. La Plage

Fashion lovers can shop for mens and womenswear in this cool store in Barrio Italia. Whether you’re after independent brands, slogan t-shirts, quirky prints, bling jewellery and chic sunglasses, or you want to sift through their vinyl collection, checking out what’s on offer at this quirky spot is a treat in itself.

Bimba Y Lola

One of the fastest growing fashion labels in the world, Bimba Y Lola is the brainchild of Spanish designers and sisters Uxia and Maria Dominguez who make colourful and whimsical prints that catch the eye of fashionistas. Taking inspiration from around the world, their stores can now be found across the globe, with Santiago boasting five of them in the Parque Araúco, La Dehesa, Costanera Center, Alto Las Condes and Casa Costanera malls.

Growing up in the north, studying in Viña del Mar and starting her eponymous brand in Santiago in 2010, she took the industry by storm.
